Dear Friends and Family,
For more than 60 years Prince of Peace has been a part of the Back Mountain Community, where our beautiful building and stained glass windows have provided enjoyment for many. Our Chancel windows, the ones behind the Altar, are a focal point of our Sanctuary. The image of Christ, and all the symbolism, is done in a German technique of style and painting popular in the 1900’s and early 1920’s.
We have been fortunate, over the years, to have had minimal maintenance costs and have not had to conduct a capital campaign in at least 15 years. However, we write to ask you now for your help as we strive to “Restore the Glory”.
The Chancel windows, mentioned above, are now in danger of falling apart from the many years of expansion and contraction due to intense sunlight and the cycling of heat and cold. It is necessary to have these windows removed, repaired and restored. Upon completion of the project the windows will be reinstalled in the Chancel area where they will remain for generations to come.
The cost of the window restoration will be approximately $10,000. We are asking for you to support this project by donating, over and above your normal giving, towards the costs as you are able. We have provided recommended levels of support on the included donation form. Any individual or family donating within these levels will be gratefully acknowledged through inclusion on a plaque to be displayed at the church. Any businesses donating at least $100 will receive a banner ad on our parish website, along with box ads in our weekly service bulletins and newsletters for a period of one year.
The “Restore the Glory” campaign is scheduled to be completed no later then April 30 so that repairs can begin before further damage is incurred.
We appreciate you giving prayerfully to this campaign which will “Restore the Glory” to Prince of Peace Episcopal Church.
Committee to Restore the Glory.
